Comprehensive Vehicle Classification & Compliance Evaluation

A vehicle (VEHICLE), specifically referring to motor road vehicles and their trailers, is defined as either a self-propelled vehicle with at least four wheels and a design speed exceeding 25 km/h, or a non-self-propelled wheeled vehicle designed to be towed by a motor vehicle. According to the Iranian National Standard No. 6924:2015, these vehicles are categorized into groups M, N, and O.

Vehicle Classification for Inspection

Based on National Standards of Iran (ISIRI)

Group M (Passenger Vehicles)

Primarily designed and constructed for the transport of passengers and their luggage.

M M1
  • Has a maximum of 8 seating positions in addition to the driver’s seat (may be limited to one seat position)
  • Must not have standing space
M M2
  • Has more than 8 seats in addition to the driver’s seat
  • Maximum mass of 5 tons or less
M M3
  • Has more than 8 seats in addition to the driver’s seat
  • Mass greater than 5 tons (includes space for standing passengers)

Group N (Goods Vehicles)

Primarily designed and constructed for the transport of goods.

N N1
  • With a maximum mass of 3.5 tons
N N2
  • With a mass of more than 3.5 tons and up to 12 tons
N N3
  • With a mass of more than 12 tons

Group O (Trailers)

Trailer designed and constructed for transporting goods, people, or for accommodation.

O O1
  • With a maximum mass of 0.75 tons
O O2
  • With a mass of more than 0.75 tons and up to 3.5 tons
O O3
  • With a mass of more than 3.5 tons and up to 10 tons
O O4
  • With a mass of more than 10 tons
